There are 400 students in the Northbrook public schools who are on the free or reduced lunch program and are food insecure. Hunger Resource Network, along with six supporting organizations, Congregation Beth Shalom, Gloria Dei Lutheran, The Village Church of Northbrook, Northbrook Covenant Church, Sunset Foods, and the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce, is currently serving 160 of the 400 students across the twelve public elementary and middle schools through the Student Food Pack Program.

Bags are filled with foods from lists created by nutritionists to assure families are getting a well-balanced diet. The bags provide food and snacks for students on the weekends. The bags are delivered to the participating schools by our partners and then distributed to the families by school personnel to ensure privacy.

You can participate by using the link below to sign up to fill a bag(s) and deliver it to our collection office in Northbrook. There are two lists and packing instructions available through the link below. If you prefer to make a donation, use the Donate link on our website and note that your gift is for the Student Food Pack Program.

Through the end of February of 2024:

• 3,870 bags have provided the equivalent of 30,960 meals

• 646 personal care bags were collected in the Students Helping Students summer program

• 323 cases of food for District 31 Caring Center were delivered (a food corner stocked by contributions where people can take what they need)
